1.5 Years Experience This was an interview for a marketing position, but almost always requires an engineering background (I have an Electrical Engineering degree) so you can understand the chips that you're selling. I had experience in a very similar role in another semiconductor company. I was very pleased with the atmosphere and the people I talked to at Altera. They all seemed very smart and driven, but had laid back personalities which made me feel like it would be a good place to work. I'm an electrical engineer and was intrigued by the position as it branched out a little bit from most of the other opportunities I had and it seemed to provide a pathway to a more business-oriented career. The position is difficult to understand at first but requires somebody with an engineering background to understand how the chips work, but a desire to go out and market products, find new business opportunities and work with the sales force to make a product line successful.
